Curiosity & Consequences: Building Confidence to Say No

February 17 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Free

Have you ever wondered why some young people feel confident saying “no”, while others struggle — even when they know something isn’t right?

Peer pressure, curiosity, stress, and the desire to fit in can strongly influence young people’s choices. With vaping and drug experimentation becoming more common, warnings alone are not enough. Young people need confidence, clarity, and supportive adults around them.

Curiosity & Consequences: Building Confidence to Say No is a free and empowering session hosted by Future in Perspective, designed to help adults strengthen young people’s self-esteem, decision-making skills, and resilience.

The session will explore practical, evidence-informed strategies to support teenagers, including:

  • Communicating effectively with young people

  • Boosting confidence and self-esteem

  • Setting clear, fair, and consistent boundaries

  • Creating supportive environments at home, school, and youth settings

  • Helping young people say “no” confidently to drugs, vaping, and negative peer influence

  • Encouraging healthier coping strategies and positive decision-making

Participants will also receive free access to resources and training from the CHILL PILL project.

The session will feature a special guest talk from Ann Crowe, Parenting Cavan, who brings extensive experience in family support, communication, and youth wellbeing.
