Cavan Monaghan Connects is supporting a call-out to local communities, voluntary groups and organisations who may be interested in organising a safeTALK workshop in their area.
safeTALK is a half-day, evidence-based suicide alertness training programme designed for people over 18, regardless of prior experience or professional background. The training helps participants to recognise signs that someone may be struggling with suicidal thoughts and shows them how to respond in a safe, supportive way by connecting the person to appropriate help.
The workshop can be delivered free of charge within communities. Organisers are asked to provide a suitable training room and help promote the session locally once a date and time are agreed. Trainers and all training resources are provided, and a booking link and promotional poster will be created to support registration.
The training is suitable for a wide range of community members, including volunteers, parents, teachers, clergy, frontline staff and concerned citizens. However, it is not recommended for individuals or communities who have been recently bereaved or seriously affected by suicide.
Public Participation Networks (PPNs) and other community networks are being encouraged to share this opportunity with their member groups. Expressions of interest are now welcome from communities who feel this training would benefit their area.
This training opportunity is supported by HSE Cavan Monaghan, in partnership with Breaking Through.
