September is an important month for mental health campaigns, focusing on stigma reduction and suicide prevention. This year, Samaritans are asking staff, employers, businesses, and communities to get behind these efforts by promoting open conversations around mental health and suicide.
The Finding a Way to Say It poster highlights that while many people feel comfortable talking about general mental health, fewer are at ease discussing suicidal thoughts. By encouraging honest and compassionate dialogue, the campaign aims to reduce stigma, empower people to share their feelings, and ensure they receive the support they need.
The poster also provides practical tips for recognising when someone may be struggling, how to start conversations, and where to direct them for support. Samaritans remind us that talking openly about suicide could save lives.
