Free Mental Health Training for Ukrainians and Support Workers

The Irish Red Cross has developed a range of free training and therapeutic supports to help those affected by displacement from Ukraine, alongside the professionals and volunteers supporting them in Ireland.

Most sessions are delivered online, though in-person training and community-based support groups can also be arranged upon request.

Training for Ukrainians includes:

  • CMBM Mind Body Skills Groups

  • Narrative Exposure Therapy

  • Self Help Plus (SH+)

  • Problem Management Plus (PM+)

  • Shapes of Grief

  • Psychological First Aid

  • Psychological First Aid for Children

Training for professionals and volunteers includes:

  • Psychological First Aid (PFA)

  • Psychological First Aid for Children (PFAC)

  • Self Help Plus (SH+)

  • Trauma and Crisis Intervention Training

  • Problem Management Plus (PM+)

  • Shapes of Grief (SoG)

All training is free of charge. Once registered, a project officer will contact participants to discuss the most suitable options or enrol them in the next available programme.

The Irish Red Cross also offers short-term trauma-informed therapy for forced migrants experiencing symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. Sessions are delivered online by qualified psychotherapists in Ukrainian, Russian, or Arabic.
