Losing someone to suicide can be an overwhelming and isolating experience. HUGG, Ireland’s national suicide bereavement charity, offers free support groups where people can share, listen, and find hope in the company of others who truly understand.
In Cavan and Monaghan, HUGG groups meet every second Tuesday evening at 7:30pm. Each group is facilitated by trained volunteers who themselves have been bereaved by suicide, ensuring a compassionate and understanding environment.
Support groups are a place where participants can talk openly, ask questions, and begin to rebuild hope after loss. As one participant shared: “From the first meeting, I felt hope and it gave me the space to heal.”
HUGG also provides a range of postvention services, including telephone support, resources on grief after suicide, signposting to other services, and public awareness events.
For further details on attending a Cavan or Monaghan group, you can contact HUGG by phone at 01 513 4048 (monitored answering machine) or email [email protected]. More information is also available on their website: www.hugg.ie.
