Men’s Health Information Evening draws strong turnout at Monaghan Library

Monaghan Library welcomed men from across the county for a practical and encouraging evening centred on physical and mental health. Delivered in partnership with HSE Connecting for Life Cavan Monaghan, HSE Cavan Monaghan Mental Health Service Recovery College, and Monaghan Sports Partnership, the session highlighted the value of early help-seeking and staying connected.

Local experts shared clear, actionable guidance:

  • Dr Vincent Brett, GP (Monaghan) – key health checks, prevention and common issues affecting men

  • Aidan O’Neill, Physiotherapist – movement, injury prevention and staying active safely

  • Dr Ronan Collins, HSE Psychologist – mental health, wellbeing and supports available

  • Cillian Cromwell, Monaghan Sports Partnership – wide range of local sporting opportunities for men

The evening was facilitated by Kevin Curran, Recovery College Co-ordinator with HSE Cavan Monaghan Mental Health Services, who guided discussion and audience Q&A.

Building on the success of the event, partners are planning further men’s health sessions, including options to deliver the Information Evening online. These follow-up initiatives aim to increase awareness and encourage men to reach out early with any medical, physical or mental health concerns.
