To mark 60 years of supporting mental health and wellbeing across Ireland, Mental Health Ireland has launched the 60 for 60 Challenge – a flexible and inclusive fundraising event running throughout the month of March.
Participants are encouraged to complete 60 kilometres between 1 and 31 March in any way that suits them. Whether walking, running, cycling, swimming, wheeling or stretching, every movement counts. The focus is on participation, connection and wellbeing rather than competition.
The campaign is open to everyone. People can sign up individually, join with friends, take part as a workplace team, or link in with their local sports club. It is designed to be accessible to all fitness levels and abilities.
Funds raised through the challenge will directly support Mental Health Ireland’s national programmes and community initiatives. These include the distribution of free mental health pocket guides, local stress management courses, and the Woodlands for Health programme, which supports wellbeing through nature connection.
Participants can set up a personal fundraising page, share their progress throughout the month, and connect with others through the Move It Strava Club. Early sign-ups may also receive a limited-edition Mental Health Ireland water bottle as part of the campaign’s early bird incentive.
The 60 for 60 Challenge is not only a fundraiser – it is an opportunity to prioritise mental health, build healthy habits, and strengthen community connections across Counties Cavan and Monaghan and beyond.
Registration is now open via the Mental Health Ireland website.
