Inspire Wellbeing has launched the Peace of Mind Programme, a free six-week initiative designed to strengthen emotional resilience, coping skills and overall wellbeing among young people aged 11–25.
Delivered in small, supportive groups, the programme provides a safe and inclusive space where young people can explore personal challenges, build confidence and develop practical tools to manage everyday pressures. Each weekly session lasts between one and two hours and can be delivered in person at a host venue or a venue arranged by the programme team.
The programme focuses on key areas of personal development, including:
-
Self-identity and getting to know yourself
-
Building resilience
-
Strengthening coping skills
-
Developing healthy relationships
-
Navigating social media
-
Looking to the future
The aim is to help young people improve their self-awareness, emotional wellbeing and sense of belonging, while developing practical strategies that support long-term mental health.
Group sizes range from 8–15 participants, and both individual and group referrals are welcome. Parental consent is required for participants under 18.
The programme is supported by PEACEPLUS, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB), and takes a cross-community and cross-border approach to youth wellbeing.
In partnership with The Open University, research is currently being carried out to explore the impact of the programme on young people in Northern Ireland and the border counties. Participants who complete the programme may have the opportunity to contribute to this research by sharing feedback on their experiences.
Young people who complete the programme can also apply to become Peer Facilitators. This involves attending additional training and co-delivering sessions alongside experienced youth facilitators. The role helps participants build leadership, communication and presentation skills, offering valuable experience for future education or employment.
Roma McCusker, Youth Facilitator with Inspire, is encouraging schools, youth services, community groups and professionals across Cavan and Monaghan to consider referring young people who may benefit.
