Public Consultation Open for the Next Healthy Ireland Framework

March 9, 2026

The Department of Health has launched a national public consultation to inform the development of the next Healthy Ireland Framework, which will guide health and wellbeing policy in Ireland in the years ahead.

The consultation is an opportunity for organisations, community groups, and members of the public to share their views, experiences and ideas on how to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities across the country.

The new framework will build on the work of Healthy Ireland to promote healthier lifestyles, strengthen community wellbeing, and support policies that enable people to live healthier lives. Ensuring a wide range of perspectives is essential to shaping a framework that reflects the needs of individuals, families and communities throughout Ireland.

The Department of Health is particularly keen to hear from people and communities whose voices are not always represented in policy discussions, including minority and disadvantaged groups. Improving health equity will be a key focus of the new framework.

The online survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete and is open to residents of Ireland only. All responses will contribute to a consultation report that will help inform future public health policy and action.

Organisations are encouraged to share the consultation with their networks, staff, students and stakeholders. A digital poster with a QR code linking directly to the survey has been created to help promote participation.

Submissions for the consultation will close on 22 April 2026.
