You’re Not Alone This Christmas

Mental Health and Wellbeing Supports in Cavan and Monaghan

December 17, 2025

Christmas is often described as a joyful and busy time, but it can also bring added pressure. Financial worries, family expectations, grief, isolation or ongoing mental health challenges can feel more intense during the festive period. It’s important to remember that you are not alone, and support is available throughout Christmas and into the New Year.

Looking after your wellbeing over Christmas does not mean everything has to be perfect. Having realistic expectations, taking things one step at a time and giving yourself permission to rest or say no can make a real difference. Small acts of self-care, such as getting enough sleep, spending time outdoors, eating regularly and being mindful of alcohol, can support both your physical and mental health.

Kindness and connection also matter. Reaching out to someone you trust, offering support to others, or simply having a conversation can reduce feelings of isolation. If you are finding things particularly hard, professional help and listening services are available and open over the Christmas period.

If you need immediate help or feel unsafe, contact emergency services on 999 or 112.
