The Irish Red Cross provides free short-term psychotherapy for forced migrants in Ireland who are experiencing symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder.
Over 10 sessions, fully qualified psychotherapists support clients using trauma-informed approaches and Narrative Exposure Therapy to create a lifeline of life events, offering a safe anchor to process traumatic memories. Sessions are mainly online, with in-person options available for Arabic speakers.
The service began in 2023 for Ukrainian and Russian speakers and is now extended to include Arabic-speaking therapists. Registration and an initial assessment are required.
